Today, the news isn't good and the weather isn't good. I'll escape from reality, I think, into a world of illusion. I'm a great fan of escapism. I like pictures by Shirazeh Houshiary (an Iranian painter and sculptor, living in London). In front of her big formless paintings, I get a feeling of floating into them. In the beginning "the earth was without form"; she has a painting called "Genesis". More trivial are "Magic Eye" pictures. Can you see anything among the roses? (Perhaps your screen is too small.)Your eyes should not be focussed. Some images are impossible; impossible rings, impossible triangle, impossible cube, etc. And which spot is smaller? Illusions!
