Thursday is a very busy day for me. I have one class for adults in the morning. That's suitable for people in Cornwall and Australia (it's evening there). In the afternoon I have another class for children. Morning and afternoon, we write silly little stories to use our vocabulary. Sometimes we write a tongue-twister, like "Rich Robert Redbeard is giving a present of red roses to his wife Robina!" For the children the sentences are simpler and shorter. And we are writing an alphabet of animals."I saw an ape in a zoo."

Workmen have a lot of equipment. The electrician brought things for checking wires and connections. He brought many new things to attach to walls and ceiling. First, he had to remove some old things - and saw away half a cupboard to reach the meters.

I was happy to walk with a dog in the sunshine today. Many butterflies and bees were happy in the sunshine too. The scent of the ivy flowers was sweet, and they were full of buzzing. I can name one butterfly as a red admiral, but I have forgotten the name of the other butterfly. It is so beautiful with its furry body and its speckled wings.

Do you have an umbrella? That's not very useful in Cornwall because of the wind. I have many twisted and bent umbrellas. They did not last long here. For rain and wind together you need a waterproof coat with a hood. Perhaps next week a hard helmet will be needed. There is a warning of strong winds and flying things! But in October we could have more hot weather. Keep your umbrella as a parasol.

The hedges are quite autumnal. There will be plenty of red holly berries for Christmas. That sycamore tree is turning brown because of the “keys”. (The leaves are still green.) The weather today is very windy, and the sea is rough and noisy. The hydrangea flowers are lasting, but they are turning colour too.

There was strong wind and heavy rainfall in the night and the morning. Fortunately, our trampoline was not blown away. The noisy wind and rain have gone now, like the weather forecast said. But I can still hear the sound of the sea - and at last I can hear the little stream running from the shallow pond, though it's only a trickle.

Nowadays we must carry our black sacks of rubbish to the road, or push them along in a wheelbarrow. The lane is too small for a dustbin lorry. The Council has plans for people in Cornwall to use large wheelie bins. Could we push one of them in our muddy lane, with all its holes?
