How could my life be any more crazy? Today my daughter became homeless, and now there are many bags, cardboard boxes and several extra items of furniture cluttering up my house. I have enough clutter myself already. She has to wait for a new home. There is a great affordable housing shortage in Cornwall. My camera is buried somewhere! Meanwhile, three children stayed awake until nearly midnight.

It was a bright day, though the wind was quite cold. The sea was blue. The footpath was sheltered from the wind between the hedges in our favourite walk. There are still a lot of blackberries. The little boy likes picking them with his great-grandfather. And he likes climbing up on a big gate to see the horses in our neighbour's field. At last there's a drop of water in the little stream, but there is no torrent or cascade. It is a string of puddles! Here's an unusual insect. I haven't  seen it before. Is it a bee or a fly? It has big eyes. I hope it will not sting or bite. What big eyes it has!

Young aunts are very good helpers. My granddaughter is helpful with her little nephew. The day was wet, but in the end the rain went away. There was a lot of water on the gravel - all the little pebbles are pretty colours. The children made a collection. We will identify the sorts of rock later. Perhaps there is a bit of serpentine. They like going without shoes. They don't feel the cold. The girl likes cooking. The little boy would like to help her.

It's hard work taking care of a three-year old child. Children have a lot of energy. Do they have a battery? You need eyes in the back of your head. This boy is very sweet, but he is too clever and challenging. He is continually looking for mischief. He doesn't want to be bored! There's no drawer, there's no cupboard, that is safe from little fingers. He can shove furniture. "I'm big and strong!" He has found my hiding place for chocolate. I need a new place.

Behold ivy flowers! The hedges are full of them, abundant in nectar and pollen for the bees. They attract wasps and flies, too. I have a functional camera. It's not new, my old camera is mended, more or less. Now, the children want to use it for taking photos themselves. So, I have a snail shell (the children love snails) on an old wall and a big male fern. There were lots of photos of the ground and clouds, too.

What is the matter with me? I took some photos but now I have lost the camera! I must make use of old photos. My son came to take away one spare bed for his new house, but my husband split the frame, and so he doesn't want it any more. Four turbulent children were creating turmoil and disarray in the garden and the shed. There are so many toys - why isn't there enough space for them in their own homes? Can I throw some toys away? Will they notice?

What's the news in Cornwall? There's a homelessness problem in Cornwall. More and more people are evicted because their landlords want to sell their houses or turn them into holiday homes. There's a need for lots of temporary accommodation. There's a need for student lodgings as well. Cornwall Council has decided to buy two holiday parks for temporary accommodation for the homeless. There's a plan for regeneration of part of Truro. There will be 320 homes; 35% will be "affordable" housing. The plan is quite attractive. There will be students' lodgings (for 400), a university centre, a hotel, leisure facilities and more. In other places, leisure centres are closing. Perhaps there will be more houses there.

The night was misty and the moon was veiled. In the morning, the grass is dew-covered. Every little teardrop of moisture mirrors the sky, and the cobwebs sparkle like jewels. The hedges are full of little coloured fruits now - blackberries in brambles, red rosehips in dog roses, red haws in hawthorns, sloes in blackthorns, black elderberries in elders, red berries on honeysuckle, red bryony berries. They are popular with painters. Take care! Don't eat the wrong fruits!
