Children can learn as they play. Toys can be educational. Cheap plastic toys can show the difference between an insect and an arachnid. The insect has six legs and the arachnid has eight legs. Children can see, too, that a lizard is a four-legged animal. The ant and the scorpion are both arthropods. Their legs have joints and they have an external framework. The muscles are inside. The lizard has an internal skeleton, its muscles are outside its bones. Arthropods are inside out! The lizard is a reptile, and the dinosaurs likewise. Big dinosaurs are extinct - but perhaps they continue as little birds.
