Our broadband and the house phone come by way of glass fibre under the ground, but our electricity is carried by wires above the ground. the glass fibre is safe from storms but the wires can be brought down by trees in a very strong wind. From time to time somone comes to inspect all the trees under the high voltage wire. And someone else comes to check the low voltage. Does anything need to be cut? Many branches have fallen already this year in the storms. Fortunately, our trees in the hedge are not too tall. Unfortunately, the old Kea plum is leaning over. Perhaps the ivy is too heavy.

This bee doesn't need big, colourful flowers. There is more colour in the bee's tail. Perhaps we do not like the smell, but it attracts bees. These white bells are three-cornered leek or wild garlic. There are many plants in the hedge. These are true British bluebells. They are not the Spanish imposters.

2026 Day 103

2026 Dedh Cans ha Trei

Which is the first? I can see an oak tree and an ash tree. There are more leaves on the oak tree, I think. It is the first to produce leaves. Can we predict the weather? I can't remember the rhyme in English. Which was the first tree to grow? The oldest trees are the apple trees. The ash tree grew like a weed in the orchard. Our oak tree is younger. That also grew like a weed, in an old chicken run. I grew the pine trees myself with seeds from a pinecone. They are not weeds, but they are growing very quickly. Will they be too big?

2026 Day 102

2026 Dedh Cans ha Dew

De Sül, dewdhegves mis Ebrel

Pandr'ew hebma war dhans lew? Nag ew hei gwenenen. Kelyonen-vargesy (bargas) ew hei.

At last, true spring has arrived. We already have flowers but, even more important, several little butterflies and big bees are appearing. What sort of butterfly? They are speckled wood butterflies, I think. They like dancing in the sunshine in the lane. Sometimes they rest on a leaf. This hairy bee (bumblebee) has a red tail. It is resting on the fence. What is this on a dandelion? It is not a bee. It is a hoverfly.

Unfortunately, I couldn't go to my writers group this morning. But, fortunately, there was a "Cornish Language Saturday" on line, the whole day. I talked about writing in Late Cornish. I found my first blog (lesson one), my first blog with a photo, my first verses, my first blog for children, and more. There will never be a shortage of subjects. But there is not enough time for drawing now.

Today, it's the hundredth day of the year. I should write something special. Unfortunately, the sky is grey, and sometimes there is rain. I cannot see any sunshine. Fortunately, the rain has reduced the pollen in the air. So, I haven't got hayfever but I have a common cold instead. It's not too bad. The wild cherry blossom can be pleasing without being a sneezing problem.

Nag eus levow wheg dhe'n briny tre cavalek.

The countryside around is not noiseless, not even in the night. If there is no traffic noise I can hear the sea in the distance, beyond the hill, and the wind in the tall trees. Sometimes there is an owl (or two owls with different voices). In the evening I can see two bats flying around. My ears can't catch their noise - it is too high. In the daytime. the air is full of other voices - birds large and small. The quarrelsome rooks do not have sweet voices.

Once upon a time there lived in our lane a butcher named May. Therefore, there is no surprise to find old bones, perhaps a hundred years old, in the hedge. This bone looks like a stone. There is calcium in it, but it is not a mineral, it's not a calcareous rock. It's a knuckle bone, I think, from a leg of some big animal. All the meat was gone a long time ago. These bones were popular for making meat stock and soup. You can buy this sort of bone for your dog.

It's a bank holiday today, so for us there is no bus. But never mind, we are happy to stay home and do nothing. Our recycling stuff was taken away early in the morning as usual on a Monday. The sun is shining and the wind isn't too cold. It's good weather for relaxing in the garden. But there is a big problem. The air is full of tree pollen - and I can't stop my sneezing and coughing. I must stay indoors and eat the remains of the cake!

A celebration is not complete without a cake (or two) and ceremonial cutting. And after that the family needs to be gathered together for a photo. But someone is missing! And why is there chocolate on the floor? The dog is trying to eat it. Quick! The children will soon run away.

This year we have seen four full moons. In January we saw a Wolf Moon, in February we saw a Snow Moon, in March we saw a Worm Moon, and now there is a Pink Moon. Pink is not the colour of the moon in reality, but flowers in America on the plains are pink. The moon this month is special. There are austronauts going there.

They are cultivated by my husband and I do not need bought flowers! There are more flowers, wild flowers, in the lane as well.

Calan Ebrel lôwen dhe bub onan. Nanj ew termyn pur hir, an calander a wrüg treylya lies gweyth; deg mis, dewdhek mis, gwav heb misyow. Henwyn an misyow a veu chanjys. Happy April Fools Day to everyone. A very long time ago the calendar often changed; ten months, twelve months, winter witout months. Names of the months were changed. Perhaps, today was the first day of the year, with big celebrations.  Then, by decree, the year began on the first day of January. But the "fools" were still rejoicing the wrong day.
