This month is a good time to see fungi. There's only one word in Cornish - toadstool. (Sometimes, we have to use the Latin names.) There are many toadstools in Great Britain - perhaps 3000 - and some of them are edible - perhaps 50. The largest part of them are inedible, perhaps poisonous. I prefer to buy my mushrooms in a supermarket - that's safer! But there are people who love to forage wild mushrooms - they can recognize the good ones. Some are highly prized - thousands of pounds for one kilogram. The mushrooms in my garden are worthless unfortunately! There are earthballs, not truffles nor puffball. Some toadstools are colourful. I'd like to find a wax-cap.
