Yesterday, we walked to the field above the church. It was a lovely day, but it was very windy. From afar, we could see a fine sandy haze, blown up from the beach and dunes. The bank beside the road was very ferny and full of flowers, but there aren't a lot of butterflies. The farm lane leading to the field was baked hard, then we had some rain. So, the water is in little stagnant ponds, full of green alga. They are bubbling with oxygen in the sunshine. There's corn growing in the field, and we heard a skylark singing very sweetly. We walked to the tall granite stone. I didn't see any sign of a face, but, I believe, there was carving on it a long time ago. It's possible to see the next village from the field and there are contented sheep in a nearby meadow. I came home and found a humorous drawing of another pleased sheep for my children's blog, "At Home With Cornish". It was a sheep in a bath. "The sheep is in the bath."
