There are animals all around me! Perhaps I see them, often I do not. There are pets in our house. They are not our animals. They have come from our daughter and granddaughter. Will they go again? Who knows. They are very happy here. The rats have a comfortable cage but the cats can roam. The cats would not like to be imprisoned in a cage. The tomcat likes to hunt, however I am never happy with his catch – sometimes mice, occasionally birds, once a weasel. He knows where the animals are, though I don't. I found a snail in the house in a strange place – near the ceiling. How did it creep so far? Is it dead? Would it like to stay for the winter? In the garden I see signs of badgers. They dig holes in the lawn. Earthworms and beetles are their food, perhaps slugs as well (I hope). I must take care – they leave poo in the grass. I can hear some animal in a tree now. It is a squirrel swearing at the cat.
