I have to write about Fijke Middendorp again.  Her works are so interesting and she is very inspiring herself. There are two methods to make prints with a printing press. One is "intaglio" - that's an Italian word - meaning "to cut into". The designs are scratched or cut into the surface of the printing plate. The ink for printing should be in grooves and holes under the surface. The paper should be wetted to stretch the fibres - then it can be pressed into the scratches and cuts to absorb the ink. You can buy special boards, but you can use milk cartons (Tetra Pak), too (the shiny metallic surface inside). The plates can be used more than once, but all the prints are different. A second print will not be the same as the first.
