I read Neil Kennedy's blog last night. He's sown seeds in his garden. A good idea, I thought, I'll do the same. But have I got any seed? I found four packets of old seed. There are mung beans for growing bean sprouts on a window sill, multi-coloured beetroot for their sweet, swollen roots, organic lettuce for little leaves, and kale for ... who knows? There is a problem. You have seen that I am a baker without skill. I am not a good gardener either. And there is no easy ground in my garden. So I found two plastic troughs and a bag of compost. Beetroot is now in the big trough and lettuce and kale are in the little trough. The beans are in the house. Now we need rain. I am not an optimist! However, this squirrel is optimistic - it hopes to get something in the grass. And there is some success, there are flowers on the old Treyew lilac.
