Taking a new look at Cornish grammar 13 (some verb phrases)


Here are some simple sentences (single clauses) with predicates composed of verb phrases using adverbs of manner.

Tüs lettrys a dhesk der vaner deskys.
SWFM Tus lettrys a dhysk der vaner dyskys.
Academic men (people) teach learnedly.
Benenes skentel a dhewis en für.
SWFM Benenes skentel a dhewis yn fur.
Clever women choose wisely.
An stüdhyer gôwek eth en trûan.
SWFM An studhyer gowek eth yn truan.
The dishonest student went sadly.
Edhen vian a gànas en lôwen.
SWFM Edhen vyghan a gànas yn lowen.
A little bird sang happily.
Ma flogh üdnik o qwary en còsel.
SWFM Yma flogh unnik ow kwari yn kosel.
A lone child is playing calmly.
Ma’n barner mas o preujy der vaner own.
SWFM Yma’n barner mas ow preusi der vaner ewn.
The good judge is judging fairly.
