I didn’t walk this morning,
because I had a Zoom Cornish lesson, and I couldn’t walk in the afternoon
either, because there was a Zoom chat with old lab friends (and there was rain
as well). Often the evening is the best part of the day, and it was so today. A
low sun makes long shadows across the road, but it lights up the treetops. The
haws in a hawthorn are bright red. Some leaves in my tree are turning red. It
will soon be autumn. The flowers of rosebay willowherb are finished and now the feathery seeds are ready to be carried away by wind. The wheat has been cut - there is nothing but stalks left in the field.
