Rain! I heard a sound of several heavy showers in the night. I looked
out of the door in the morning. Do we need to read our water meter? We can’t –
it is underwater. However, we walked later and gathered blackberries to go with
fallen apples. I had some red plums that weren’t very juicy. So, apples,
blackberries and plums – what to do with them? I know! I’ll make jam, red jam.
I found nine jam jars. Tomorrow there will be more fallen apples – a storm is
coming. Do I have any more jars? I’ll put the next apples in the freezer. I
will be able to make lots of apple pies in the winter. And I have half a bottle
of spirits – I can make sloe gin for Christmas.
