We heard voices coming and the sound of feet in the road. It was two real horses (they weren't two hobby horses) with lady riders on their backs, calling out to one another. We heard other voices in the sky - sounds of  alarm. A buzzard was under attack by angry crows. Did the buzzard snatch a chick? I found a black feather on the path. Did it fall from an angry crow? There were more noises up in the fields. Beyond the hedge we heard the gentle breathing of cows. In May the air is full of the sweet song of skylarks. We see them with great difficulty - they fly so high. Sometimes you see one, then it swoops quickly down to the ground again, to its nest. They are not very small birds, but they look tiny high  in the sky. On the road again, take care! People come past very fast on bicycles. They are soundless before they reach you. After that they are gone!
