Today I went to the university in Penryn to listen to several speakers about Cornwall’s maritime churches. Dick Cole (archaeologist) talked about St Piran’s Oratory and Glasney collegiate church. They are not there anymore - many years ago they fell or were pulled down. Matt Blewitt’s subject was castles and manors with noble architectural things like churches. Those by the coast had to defend against the king’s enemies. Pengersick Castle is not a true castle but it looks important. Mark Milburn is a diver. He found many wrecks in a cove near Gunwalloe church. In the past drowned sailors were buried there.
