Learn Late Cornish Bit by Bit 84 (More About Prepositions and Pronouns)

A Bit More About Prepositions and Pronouns

We have seen how the prepositions dhe to and gen with/by can be combined with personal pronouns, e.g.:

dhebm                                   to me
dhis                                       to you (singular familiar)
dhen                                      to us
dhewgh, dhew’                    to you (formal or plural)
ganjo                                    with him, by him
genjy                                    with her, by her
ganjans                                with them, by them

We can do something similar with other prepositions. Here is another example, using rag for:

rag vy >                     ragam[1]                    for me
rag che >                   rages [2]                    for thee (familiar singular)
rag ev >                     ragto[3]                     for him, for it (m)
rag hei >                    rygdhy                      for her, for it (f)
raga nei >                  ragon                        for us
raga whei >               ragow(gh)                 for you (formal or plural)
rag anjei  >                ragtans[4]                 for them

Ma boos genam ragow’.               I have some food with me for you.
Otta leverow nowyth ragtans.     Here are some new books for them.
Eus neppeth obma ragam?         Is there anything here for me?
Nag eus tra veth ena rygdhy.      here’s nothing there for her.
