These are the last photos from the non-functional camera. I'll write a few words about each one. The photos are not connected in any way. The photo in the first image is very old - it's faded. The green is gone. The big umbrellas should be brighter green. Men are fishing on a river bank. They are well separated - and that was before the virus. There is permission now for fishing again. There is permission for golf as well. We can see the golf course from our the surrounding hills. Nearer to home I gave breakfast cereal to the birds. I'm lacking any more seeds. A blackbird likes this. And in the house, I found some needles and threads for making my chairs.

Farewell to you, little camera! My camera no longer works. It died at midday. What can I do? I need pictures for my blog. I'll have to use old images. I don't lack old things of every sort! We found four old chairs in the shed. We need a project - we'll renovate them. The man of the house painted the frames. Now we must work on the seats. We have dismantled them and thrown the shabby covers and stuffing away - it was horse-hair. Now it is my job to make the new seats. I have lots of fabrics but I don't have a single nail!

It is quiet outside the window today. There was a house sparrows' nest under the eaves, but now the birds have gone. Yesterday I saw a parent bird feeding a youngster on the window ledge before flying into the hedge. They are eating a lot of seed. Are there a lot of sparrows this year? They seem to be everywhere. Here's one on some hogweed. A sparrow's song is not very sweet, but this dickybird on an electricity line is different. It's a goldfinch. Our neighbours had a problem - their telephone didn't work very well. Men from Open Reach had to fix it. They used a ladder to inspect the line. In the meantime, the other neighbours were making a new fence.

Today the day was a bit mixed. Sometimes I was happy. The cats didn't eat all their food, so I threw it on the lawn. It was stale. They will not touch it again. As I was standing there on the steps I saw a jackdaw. It walked very near me, completely unafraid, for the food. There was another jackdaw on the chimney. How shiny their grey heads are. I was happy. But in the afternoon we walked in the fields. We didn't hear the skylarks but we did hear a tractor. We saw it spraying the field with weedkiller. Poor birds. What will happen to your nests on the ground? I am not happy.

How's your head? What's your memory like? Can your brain remember little things? Are you learning Cornish very quickly or slowly? Do you often say, "I can't remember exactly."? It's vital for some of the people to have good memories, and there is a game for brain training. It's described in a novel by Rudyard Kipling, published in 1901. It's called "Kim's Game". It's quite useful for learning Cornish words. Look at a tray full of objects then cover it with a cloth. Can you name everything without seeing them? There's another game. One thing is removed secretly, then the cloth is taken away. "What is missing?"

There are many colours and there are not enough words for all the colours. I say, " The sea is 'glas' today." But what colour is 'glas'? I say, "The grass and plants were 'glas' in my lawn yesterday". Are the grass and the plants and the sea an identical colour? In the day, the sea is 'glas' every time, but the sea is not the same colour every day. And I could use the word 'glas' for some flowers. We need more descriptive words. The physicist Isaac Newton split white light into different colours with a prism. He gave seven names to the colours of the rainbow. Unfortunately, we can use 'glas' for more than one of them. The sky is not the same colour green as plants, but we could say 'sky green'. Perhaps we should borrow 'sky blue' to be sure. And when the sea is dark we can use navy blue. Some flowers are between blue and purple. Could we borrow 'indigo' like Newton? It's not time yet for cornflowers.

We have permission - a Government directive! We can go out more than once a day. It's now possible to sell and buy houses again - but only one person to look around with the estate agent. There's an empty house near us and, behold, an estate agent appeared! We are safe behind our gate! But we did go out. We walked downhill, northward rather than southward. We didn't see many people apart from two riders, with a good distance between them. There were horses on this road earlier (before now) - there's some horse dung. But what is this plant in the hedge? Is it dangerous? Is it giant hogweed? No, it's too small. It's common hogweed. It's not tall enough (yet!).
