It is strange, seeing this beautiful moth in the daytime. It flies in the night time. The buff-tip moth has cryptic colouration. It looks like a broken twig from a silver birch tree. I could see it on my gate. I carried it to a wall, and it was hidden straight away. It won't live a long time. It will not hibernate - sleep over the winter. Does it already have eggs or caterpillars? The caterpillars must eat a lot of leaves. Are they in my garden or in a neighbour's garden? I must look for caterpillars on leaves. They are yellow and black. A pupa should hibernate under the ground, to come out next year.
