It's raining now but in the morning the weather was dry and windy - autumnal. The wind was cold, the sea was grey and the sky was grey – the same colour, as grey as ashes. The sea was rough too, though I could hardly see it against the sky. We walked in the lane and picked blackberries – they are not very large and there aren't many. They are late this autumn, it seems. The dogs watched us! The old cat doesn't want to go out – she prefers to sleep on a toy. Our house is full of toys at the moment.

Good morning to you. Here I am out of my bed early in the morning. The night was wet and windy and the morning is grey, but we had a bright sunrise. For a brief moment the sky lit up under the clouds. The sun sparkled through the trees.
In the late afternoon the clouds have gone but our shadows are long. The rats, the girl and her brother have gone as well. There's school today. However, the little boy and his mum have come. We are in the garden. The little boy would like to climb the slope.

We have little guests – two children and two rats. The rats are less troublesome than the children! The animals are quiet but the children make a commotion. The animals had a dirty cage – the girl had to wash it and clean it. The rainwater tank is full – very useful for washing the cage outside of the house. (It's too big for the sink in the kitchen.) The cat is in ecstacy – she found the rats' hammock. But everything should go in the cage again. The animals are tired, it's time to sleep.

There are no dogs here today, so the cat can relax in the garden. She won't be disturbed. The dogs can't escape now – our neighbours have impressive new gates. Neither can the other animals run away. There are lots of birds near the sea – jackdaws and gulls. These jackdaws with grey heads are adult. They are looking for insects in the lawn. This other jackdaw is not fully grown. He does not have a grey head yet. He would like to be fed. The two others reject him. There's a herring gull on the wall, with her annoying young gull. A jackdaw is disturbed and he flies away.

Sometimes we have visitors. They could be invited but they could also come without an invitation. These nice dogs came to play without invitation! They scarpered from our neighbour. Her old gate was taken away, to make room for a better new one. They went home after racing all around the garden. The cats weren't happy to see them. I am always happy to see butterflies, of any kind. Here's a red admiral drinking from a rotten apple (instead of a flower). Can you see this one in a birch tree? A big dragonfly flew into the conservatory today. I had to help her find the way out. Sadly I cannot find my photo. Eurika!
