My house and garden are east-facing. In winter the sun shines on us in the morning (if there is no cloud). But it's midday and look at the sun now. It's behind trees in our neighbour's field. There won't be any sunshine on the grass until the day breaks again. However there is still sunlight on the roof of the house. Moss is growing well there. I can see a sunlit part of the moon in the sky – it's a crescent. I can see several birds waiting for pasty crumbs (there was too much crust on our pasties yesterday). But the cat is waiting too.
