Today is a special day in Truro. It's time to switch on the Christmas lights. Every year there is a parade of lanterns through the streets for “Truro City of Lights”. I could not go to watch the event this year, but I have found some old photos. I took these pictures eight years ago.The lanterns were made of canes or wires and special paper (it does not burn) to look like huge animals - a giraffe, a rhinoceros, a hare, dolphins, a squid, etc. That year the theme was wildlife, I believe. This year the theme is the history of the city. Tonight I saw a lantern on the TV that looked like the cathedral.
