I like September colours. You can see a rainbow in hedges and gardens; black and white with every colour in between them. There are small white flowers among dark green, evergreen ivy leaves and dark brown, dead needles from a fir-tree. There's white yeast on Kea plums growing wild in the hedge. Are they ultramarine or purple? There are lots of blackberries - but a majority of them are not black yet; they are red. More sun is needed. There are berries that are bright red - those are not to be eaten, never! Honeysuckle and bryony - some berries are bright green too. The colours of the butterfly are very modest in contrast - like a dead leaf.

Did the cycle race pass close to our house? I don't know; I forgot to look. For pictures, I had to search on YouTube for vlogs taken by other people. There was great excitement among spectators in Mabe Burnthouse (it doesn't have a Cornish language placename) and Truro as they were waiting for the peloton to pass through. Ahead of the bicycles there were many official cars (and for news media and VIPs) and police officers on motorbikes. There were more cars and motorbikes following the riders. Many cars were support cars with spare bicycles. There was a breakdown van, for the cars, and an ambulance, in case anyone should be ill or injured.

The Paralympic Games will end tomorrow with a marathon race and a closing ceremony. The marathon is the longest event. In the summer, the Olympic marathon was won by Kipchoge of Kenya. He is able-bodied, with two arms, two legs and two good eyes. The Paralympic marathon is separated into five parts. The parts will start several minutes from one another. The men in wheelchairs will start first. They are expected to be fastest. They have full muscle power in their arms and some in their upper body - but their legs are not good. They have special fast wheelchairs. Next are the women in their wheelchairs. The third group is men and women with impaired vision and men with weak or missing arms. Those with impaired vision may be linked to a guide to show them the right way. Guides can change - the same person doesn't have to run the full distance.

Do you like cycling. When I was young, I cycled many miles with my friends. Unfortunately, I can no longer ride a bike. I cannot balance - I could overbalance and fall down! I never raced and I did not ride across rough terrain, over obstacles, or down steep slopes either. You could watch all of those in the Paralympic Games. You haven't caught them? Be sure to watch the Tour of Britain on Sunday. The first stage is in Cornwall, 180km from Penzance to Bodmin. Parts of the route are in hilly country. There are category three hill climbs - these can be as short as 1km but very steep (gradient 10%) or as long as 10km but less steep (gradient 5%). Will there be crowds of spectators in the streets of the towns? They should wear masks or visors this year.

I will not go to the beach for several days. I don’t like crowds. There's an invasion! We can expect 5000 extra people to descend on Perranporth for a 3-day music festival, "Tunes in the Dunes". I do not wish to catch Covid, so I shall stay at home. Tonight, as I walk around my garden, I can hear loud voices and music. It is not my favourite kind of music. It is more than a mile away. I pity the people with nearer houses. I can see the golf club in the distance. The music is not coming from those buildings. Are the musicians Cornish speakers. Very likely not. Or, perhaps the Oggymen.

Will there be shortages of supplies for Christmas. I hear predictions on the radio all the time. There's a lack of capable, experienced drivers for lorries. There's a lack of containers to bring things from the Far East, and there's a lack of vessels as well. There's a shortage of some components. Buy your games and toys in good time for Christmas. Perhaps shelves will be empty in December. No matter! I am not worried today. I can walk in the fields and pick blackberries with the little boy. The barley is cut. There will be enough beer. There's a lot of yellow straw (it's not white straw for September!) Here's a wild bee on a stone. She's combing herself.
