There are two cats by the window. One is outside the glass and wants to come in, and the other is inside and would like to go out. I am not going to open the window because it is too cold. They have a cat flap – they can use that. I can hear a loud buzz by the porch. Is this a wasp? It's rather big. Is it a queen or even a hornet? It has flown away now. But the badgers have not flown away. They have dug up the mole hills. Did the moles escape?

This is a footpath sign. It's a footpath downhill through the little wood. It's a shortcut for us towards the road opposite. But today we can't use it because it is blocked by a fallen tree. The ivy on it is very heavy and the ground is very weak because of the rain. We must wait for the parish council to cut it away. In Truro there is a road blocked by workmen. I don't know why! Perhaps they are burying new pipes in the ground. There are warning signs in bright colours. There is a diversion for the cars.

I wrote part of a newsletter today. I must write more tomorrow. I found photos and notes about talks to my art group. In October, Graham Gynn spoke regarding birds of Thailand (coloured like jewels) and pictures he painted. In September, Bron Freake, a ballet dancer and painter described the connections between art and dance. Graham and Bron are both inspired by Mondrian, one by a picture of a tree and the other by his composition in blue, red and yellow..

Perhaps there will be lovely weather again today, but early in the morning it is misty. The sun is rising and lifting the mist. There is still dew on the grass. I can see traces – some animal has touched the dewdrops with its body. The traces in the dew go towards bigger traces. There are holes. That animal has dug many great holes in the grass. It's not this llama. He's not guilty. Badgers again! Poor earthworms! Poor husband as well – the lovely green lawn ruined again.

What a beautiful day! We didn't have any rain and it wasn't windy. The sun shone for a long time. I saw people in the town without coats. I was too hot with a coat. Rabbits were enjoying themselves in a field, despite their furry coats! The sheep had gone. Little animals were happy to be in sunshine as well.
