I have a new book from my friend in Falmouth. She has found a little book, published and printed a hundred years ago in Truro. There is something in it for every day of the year in Cornwall - "history, feasts, festivals and folklore".Today: St.Credan, Confessor. New Gaol built at Bodmin in 1776, to replace Launceston Castle. (I found another old saying "as dirty as Lanson gaol".) Bodmin Gaol was closed a year after publication of the book - now it's a tourism attraction! Tomorrow: St Pancras (Roman, beheaded, aged 14). John Opie (Cornish portrait artist) born 1761 near St Agnes. 13th May: (or nearest Sunday) Zennor Feast. 14th May: Old May Day.
