Pur wheg o nei! Ma trei flogh wydn en chei lebmyn. Ma onan anodhans en còsca down, bes ma'n dhew erel ow saya  gortos en tifün. Pe le ma aga herens? Degol Valentin ew. Na wrüga vy owna an caletter jynn amontya, bes ottobma tabm moy a dhescans nowydh.

We are very kind! There are three grandchildren in the house now. One of them is fast asleep, but the other two are trying to stay awake. Where are their parents? It's Valentine's Day. I did not fix the computer problem, but here is a bit more of a new lesson.

Building up our Cornish language. Part 2 a

Cressya emann agan tavas Kernôwek. Radn 2a

Having identified something, in answer to "Pandr'ew hebma?" or "Pandr'ew hedna?", you might like to give an opinion on it.

You can use constructions with bos descriptive. To say "I like x", we can use Da ew genam x

Literally this means "Good is with me x" or "Good is by me x". So, you are not actually using the verb "to like".

Similarly:

Gwell ew genam x. I prefer x. "Better is with me x."Cas ew genam x. I hate x. "Hate is with me x."

What you like, prefer or hate can be as simple as one word

or as complicated as  you like, e.g.

Da ew genam avalow. I like apples

Da ew genam avalow gwlânek ha per. I like peaches and pears

Da ew genam clappya Kernôwek. I like speaking Cornish(Here "clappya" is a verbal noun.)

If you need to talk about someone other than yourself,

you need  to learn another paradigm.

But you are still only using bos descriptive

Some versions of this paradigm are more emphatic than others.

gen ~ gans = with or by

1s genam, genama, gena vy

2s genes, gena chy

3sm ganjo, ganso, gans ev, gens ev

3sf gensy, genjy, gos’hy, gans hei (The var. gos’hy is not official SWF.)

1p genen, gena nei

2p genow(gh), geno whei

3p ganjans, gans anjei

Da ew genes y. You like y.

Da ew ganjo y. He likes y.

Da ew genjy y. She likes y.

Da ew genen y. We like y.

Da ew genowgh y. You like y.

Da ew ganjans y. They like y.

You can put da, gwell or cas at the beginning of the sentence.
This gives  it emphasis.
There are other word orders where the emphasis  shifts, e.g.
Da ew genam avalow
Thew da genam avalow
Avalow ew da genam
If you want to ask a question, just leave out the particle
"th" " or  "eth".
Or change to the negative particle if you want a negative  statement.

Ew da genes avalow? Do you like apples?

Ew cas ganjo clappya Sowsnek? Does he hate speaking  English?

Nag ew da ganjo clappya Sowsnek.
He does not like speaking English.

Nag ew gwell ganjans cor. They do not prefer beer.

Gwell ew ganjans eva gwin gwydn. They prefer drinking white wine.

(Here "eva" is a verbal noun.)
