2022 Day 44

2022 Dedh Dogens ha Pajar

De Sul, terdhegves mis Whevrel

Sunday, 13th February

Fatel ew an gewer hedhyw? Hager ew hei! Thew hei disliw ha gleb. Ma plodn bras reb an daras rag. My a vedn scrifa.

Ottobma tabm moy a dhescans nowydh.

What's the weather like today? It's horrible! It is faded and wet. There's a big puddle by the front door. I will write.

Here's a bit more of a new lesson.

The particle "th" at the beginning of the sentence enables you to  put the verb first, without asking a question. If you replace this particle with the negative particle "nag" (SWFM  nyns), the sentence becomes negative.

Nag o vy benyn. I am not a woman.

Nag os ta den. You are not a man.

Nag ew ev kei. He/it is not a dog.

Nag ew hei cath. She/it is not a cat.

Nag o nei descoryon. We are not learners.

Nag ow whei codnyk. You are not clever.

Nag en jei (Nag ens) coth. They are not old.

Words that come into the category of description may be names,  nouns, adjectives, occupations, or phrases or clauses containing any  of those in combination.

Children learn a lot by asking questions. Here are some useful types  of question, using bos descriptive (3rd person):

Pandra ew hedna? What is that? (m)

Piw ew hebma? Who is this? (m)

Fatel ew an gewer? How is the weather?

Pehen ew agas kei? What is your dog like

Pe liw ew avalow? What colour are apples?

Rag fra ew an ebòrn glas? Why is the sky blue?

Pana bres (pres) ew an descans? What time is the lesson?

The questions we cannot ask or answer using bos descriptive are: Where is x?

and

What is y doing

Because they need to use bos locative

  1. I like the terminology descriptive and locative. It is much more helpful than long and short forms.
