Saturday, 5th February
We can look at plenty of images of ice and snow in other places. The Winter Olympic Games are taking place in China. But here in Cornwall it is not cold. Today we have mild weather. There is a lot of mud (so, I could slip) but there is no snow. The lane is muddy. There are already little flowers, most of them spattered with clay. There are a few violets, celandines and primroses beside puddles. There are mud-free catkins in the trees. There are dogs with muddy paws.
