The summer has passed. The arrival of autumn is rather turbulent. We must take hope in the old saying "summer in winter until Christmas". There's another old saying "in summer remember winter".  But it's too late now if you haven't made your plans. In autumn there are still apples on the ground and there are blackberries on brambles. Unfortunately, the apples are bruised and the blackberries are bitter and shrivelled. They are no longer sweet and juicy. There's another proverb among old people in Cornwall, "Don't pick blackberries after Summercourt Fair (or after Michaelmas). "Why not? Because they are cursed or spoiled.  Archangel Michael threw the Devil (the Fallen Angel) out of Heaven and he fell on a blackberry bush. (Though some old people say witches are to blame.)

De Merher, degves mis Gwedngala
Wednesday, 10th September

Ma caletter brâs dhe'n flehes et agan daralla. Ma cònines coynt e'n pras an scol. Pandr' ell bos gwres?
The children in our story have a big problem. There are strange rabbits in the school field. What can be done?

Bes ma Rosa, Jory ha Kettern owth omgüdha a-dhelher dhe'n ke gen nebes cònines. War an diwedh, gellys ew oll an flehes erel ha cosel ew an pras.
But Rosa, George and Katie are hiding behind the hedge with some rabbits. At last, all the other children are gone and the field is quiet.

Katie finds a tiny bottle in the hat band. There's a label stuck fast to it. The very small words 'CARROT MAGNETISM' are on it. "This is the answer, in this bottle," she says. "Rabbits like carrots."
Ma hei ow scòllya an lin e’n hatt.  Lebmyn ma hei ow còrra an hatt war an gwels a-dhelher dhe’n ke. Ma üdn cònin reb an hatt ow lebmel etto - nena an nessa cònin, ha nena an nessa.

Soon, all the rabbits are coming quickly. One by one, they jump in the hat, until there is no longer a single rabbit on the grass.

 Caletter gellys ew!
Problem's gone!
