The wind is strong today, 30 mph from the west, with 50 mph gusts. It rains as well from time to time. The waves on the sea have white crests and every tree on the hillside is swaying. The prevailing wind in Cornwall is from the south west. All the trees are shaped by the wind – they lean towards the east. The (drier) windward side doesn’t grow as fast as the sheltered side.
