This month is called “Dark Month”. It is the first month of the traditional Celtic year, and the first month of the dark half of the year. Therefore we can use the name “Winter's First Day” for today. Yesterday was the Eve of the First Day of Winter – a sort of New Year's Eve. The year began with the arrival of darkness. It is celebrated with lights and disguise. It is time to remember our ancestors as well. Today, it's All Hallows (All Saints Day).In Poland the day is a bank holiday. The people visit the graves of their families with flowers and candles.
