I like autumnal colours. The hedges are full of all
the colours of the rainbow, secondary colours as well as primary colours. There
is more blue in the sloes than there is in the sky today. Blue is a primary
colour. Another primary colour is red or scarlet in these haws. Perhaps they’ll
be eaten by finches in the winter. They are not very palatable to us.
Green-blue or green is a secondary colour. The evergreen trees remain the same
colour all the year. But see the mixed woodland by the edge of the field – a little
oak tree next to the tall pine is already turning orange. That is another secondary
colour. We see some trees losing their leaves before others. These leaves are
from a sycamore tree, I believe. Or are they from hazels? Another autumn sight
