Yesterday, I went to my art group for a demonstration about ways to make prints (without using a printer). A print is not the same thing as a photocopy or duplicate. It is art. It needs something, perhaps an engraved plate, to hold the ink and something to press the damp paper on the ink. It could be a printing press, a rolling pin or a spoon. The print is always the reverse of the plate. You can make more than one print (with fresh ink) with each plate, but the number is limited. You can mix methods and colours.

It is autumn. There are many yellow leaves on the trees, but there are many dead leaves on the ground. Remembrance Day is coming, and the parish council is looking after the memorial and all around. This man is sweeping the leaves by the church wall.

What's the weather like? There's a wind from the south, but it's not cold. The sky is cloudy, grey and overcast. There is no little patch of blue sky. Will there be a cloudless sky this month, this black month? It needs a clear sky for looking at the full moon and meteor showers, falling stars. I saw the moon a few nights ago, among the ragged clouds blown by a westerly wind, but I could not see any stars.
