On Sunday, I was looking at the river in Penryn. In summer it is full of little boats, with sometimes a bigger vessel. The big vessel is not pretty - it is a working vessel. The little boats have masts and sails, but I did not see a three-masted ship. Not yet. But the Tall Ships are coming to Falmouth soon. Greg Martin took some wonderful photos, beautiful ships with three masts.

Children like to play with toys. They love to construct things. Is this a serpent or a train or a space rocket? These are squares and triangles made of multicoloured plastic and magnets. And children like jumping and flying! Soon there will be a frame for climbing too.

The weather in Cornwall is not very good today. Sometimes there is sun and sometimes there is rain, but all the time there is wind. There is a warning on the TV; there is low air pressure. Tents are flapping in a music festival in Newquay beneath grey clouds. My family sat in a garden near the south coast. That was better than the north coast.

I found a game for a computer. The subject is an adventure in a dangerous forest full of evil creatures – goblins. Read this!

Here you are in a deep wood. Gleaming, through the trees all around, you see the threatening red light of a thousand eyes, looking at you. Goblins! You reach your hand to your sword belt, but the scabbard is empty.”

What will you do? Run perhaps? Conceal yourself? Wrestle? What will come next?

A mole is living in our lawn. Our cat does not know that! After the wind, there are lots of leaves on the grass. It's like autumn, but the leaves aren't yellow. The hydrangea is already turning to autumn colours - little red spots are beginning to appear. Fungi are growing among the blades of grass. I have forgotten the summer.
