The season is winter, but in Cornwall the weather is not cold today. However, in other places there is terrible weather, with a lot of snow. Snow is popular with those that want to snowboard or ski. But people don't want to be too cold and they don't want to be lost under a huge snow heap. There was a much colder winter in 1709 - the coldest ever in Europe - called the "Great Freeze". Rivers, lakes, lagoons, canals, all froze. It started on 5th January. Many people died - accidents, cold and starvation.
