Today, it's the last day of the Speak Cornish Week. I spoke in Cornish with other people on Monday morning, Monday afternoon, Wednesday evening, Thursday morning, Thursday evening, Friday morning and Friday evening. But I forgot Sunday evening, sadly! The little boy has gone now, with his football and his bicycle, but I am dead tired. I can't remember anything. Perhaps I'll go to bed early and read my new book - or sleep.

I can hear the sound of something happening. The noise is coming from our neighbour's garden. There are workmen rebuilding an old wall, an old Cornish hedge. Many stones are needed, many new stones. Some of the old stones can be saved and used again, but some of them are weakened. There is a lot of broken stone to be taken away. There is no local slate quarry working any more. They had to get stones from a place near Bodmin, called Callywith Quarry. These men are specialists. They worked with Will Coleman on his Kerdroya labyrinth.

Can jokes in one language be translated to other languages - and still be funny? Sometimes the words in jokes carry more than one meaning, I think. It's better not to translate word-for-word.

There will be enough fruit this year, in late summer or autumn. Already there are wild strawberries and wild cherries, though they are not
very big. There are lots of green apples on the old apple tree, among the lichen. Look at all the bramble flowers in the hedges. I am looking forward to picking blackberries and making jam or pies with apples and blackberries.
There are berries coming that we shouldn't eat, wild arum for example. The honeysuckle flowers are very beautiful, and they have a sweet smell, but don't eat the berries. Sometimes red is dangerous.
