He was an Anglo-Saxon bishop in the ninth century, a good man but nothing remarkable in his lifetime. He was buried outside of his church - that was his will. But a new cathedral was built in the tenth century - and his remains (relics) were put inside. A storm! That was 15th July. And there was rain for forty days. It is said he was angry. St. Swithin's Day in GB is his moving day. Norway remembers the date he died - 2nd July. In Cornwall, St. Swithin's church is in Launcells near Bude.
