Easter is coming. In this year it will be Sunday, 31st March. For Christians it will be a day for celebrating the resurrection of the Christ from the grave. But before that there are forty solemn days of self-sacrifice and abstinence. They will forgo eating rich food and meat. This time is called Lent. The first day of Lent is Ash Wednesday. That is 14th February this year – next week. But first, Shrove Tuesday is coming, Pancake Day! You should us all your eggs, flour and fat and gorge on pancakes. In France and some other countries it is “Mardi Gras”, Fat Tuesday. It is carnival time too. But carnival time can start before that. Have you heard of Fat Thursday, the Thursday before the beginning of Lent? In Poland (and America), the people make Pączki for Pączki Day. That was yesterday. Next year in Cornwall, please.
