Is there any link between rocks and flowers? There are white stones and white flowers. Is the colour the link. The link is a Latin word "candidus" (white, bright, radiant, beautiful, clear). The white lily is called Lilium candidum by botanists. The Cornish word for bright white is  "cann" or "cadn" from the Latin. And the shining white stone, with beautiful crystals, that is "canntir" - quartz in English (from German). The stone is white as crystal. It is also found in a place name.
