I do not like this month very much. The weather is unreliable. I can't walk far without getting wet. We are in the dark half of the year. For seven more weeks the nights will lengthen and the days will shorten. However, we are lucky - Cornwall is not in the Arctic. Father Christmas has a Polar Night lasting six months! But he can see beautiful Northern Lights and plenty of starlight. The full moon is near the horizon. Do we want lights? We must make a Jack-o'-lantern with a  pumpkin (or turnip) and a candle. Soon it will be bonfire night - a time for fireworks. They can be pretty, but I do not like the noise. And the animals get frightened.
