Today is International Women's Day. I should like to see good health, success and happiness for all women around all the world. There's only a small chance, unfortunately. But we must give thanks for every small mercy, if that is possible.

But now, here's a little lesson.

Building up our Cornish language. Part 12a
Cressya emann agan tavas Kernôwek. Radn 12a

The main use of bos locative is as an auxiliary verb for a variety of  other verbs, activities in addition to locations.
The personal form of bos locative needs to be linked to the main  verb by a verbal particle, ow or owth.
This is equivalent to adding the ending -ing to a verb in English.
Here are some examples:

Thera vy ow kemeres an vorr nowydh.
I am taking the new road.
Thesta ow kerdhes re üskis.
You are walking too fast.
Ma va ow merwel rag nown.
He is dying of hunger.
Ma hei ow neyja e'n mor.
She is swimming in the sea.
Thera nei ow pònya en pras.
We are running in a meadow.
Thero whei ow redya lever hir.
You are reading a long book.
Mons ow tevy e'n lowarth.
They are growing in the garden.
Ma Tas Nadelik ow rei royow.
Father Christmas is giving presents.

You will notice that none of the above examples shows any mutation  of the main verb. However, that continuous particle ow  can  cause a hard mutation (provection) of the initial letter of the main  verb. b>p, d>t, g>k or >c, gw>qw,

Thera vy ow tebry tesen Nadelik.
I am eating Christmas cake. (debry
Thesta ow tesky Kernowek.
You are learning Cornish. (desky)
Ma va ow tiwrosa e'n park.
He is cycling in the park. (diwrosa)
Ma hei ow qwary pel droos.
She is playing football. (gwary)
Thera nei ow qweles agan cowetha.
We are seeing our friends. (gweles
Thero whei ow cül whel calish.
You are doing hard work. (gül)
Mons ow conis e'n lowarth.
They are working in the garden. (gonis)
Ma'n tekel ow pryjyon.
The kettle is boiling. (bryjyon)
Ma kei ow prathy ascòrn brâs.
A dog is biting a big bone. (brathy

You will notice that none of the above examples has a verb that  begins with a vowel. This is where the alternative particle
owth is  used.

Thera vy owth adhesky nebes flehes.
I am educating several children.
Thesta owth eva re a win.
You are drinking too much wine.
Ma va owth ola trûan.
He is crying sadly.
Ma hei owth üja pur ûhel.
She is screaming very loudly.
Thera nei owth omdedna en scon.
We are retiring soon.
Thero whei owth ûsya agas diwla.
You are using your hands.
Mons owth omhowla war dreth.
They are sunbathing on a beach.
