Ma othom dhebm a eryow für, geryow a fürneth. Ma trei anodhans en Jowan Chei an Horr (Nicholas Boson ca. 1667).
An trei foynt a skians ew:
Na wrewgh gara an vorr goth rag an vorr nowydh.
Na wrewgh whei ostya en chei lebma vo den coth demedhys dhe venyn yonk.
Bedhes gweskys diweth ken gweskel eneth.
My a drovyas nebes erel ewedh.
I need wise words, words of wisdom. There are three of them in John of the Ram's House.
The three points of wisdom are:
Do not leave the old way for the new way.
Don't lodge in a house where there is an old man married to a young woman.
Be struck twice before striking once.
I found some others too.
From dialect sayings of Joseph Thomas 1895:
A change of work is as good as a touch-pipe.
Chânjyans a whel ew maga da avel powes.
A clout is better than a hole out.
Clout ew gwell avel toll mes.
He who can't schemey must louster.
Ev na ell towla a res whesa.
clout = a piece of cloth or rag, a patch
louster = to do hard manual work, toil, sweat
schemey = to do brain work, scheme, plan
touch-pipe = a short interval for rest in the midst of work
From Wella Rowe (Bible translation Genesis 3:19):
By the
sweat of thy face (brow) shalt thou eat thy bread
En whes dha godna tâl chy wra debry dha vara
