How can I describe the weather today? There is only one word - grey! The sky is cloudy and the air if full of rain, like mist. The ground is wet. Nobody would want to see a landscape photo now. We ate a good dinner in Blackwater with my two sisters-in-law, but I never take photos of my food and Blackwater has no dramatic scenery. Friday was different from today. Sunrise painted the clouds pink. On Thursday there was moisture on the grass; not rain drops or mist but dewdrops, like little diamonds.

Sometimes I see something in the distance and I want to ask, "What is that?". This map is useful. From our son's house, near Penryn railway station, we can see gravestones on a hillside. That should be the "Glebe" Cemetery, perhaps. (Glebe is an English word.) There are many sailing boats on the water too. From Falmouth yesterday we could see (I think) Trevissome House - dwelling of Captain Dowman, the owner of the Cutty Sark, a famous sailing ship. But that rusty wreck is not the Cutty Sark!

Today our son came in his car to fetch us, my husband and me. "We are taking you to the pub for lunch." On Monday it will be my husband's birthday - he will be eighty years old. But what a surprise! We were taken by surprise. We saw the whole family there, young and old - our children and grandchildren. An extra surprise was his sisters and part of their families. We all ate a lot of food and we were noisy. Thanks to our children for organising the party. We were happy, though I think the youngsters were rather bored!
