Unusually, we started the meeting with a short Annual General Meeting. (Covid displaced everything. Normality will return in May.) Thank you to our hard-working Committee for organising everything for us.

Warbydn ûsadow, nei a dhallathas an cuntellyan gen Cuntel Keffresyansek Bledhydnek. (Covid a  dhisedhas puptra. Ûsadow a wra dos arta en mis Me.) Meur ras dhe ‘gan Kessedhek diwysyk a orna puptra raga nei.

Martin demonstrated how to use a photo as the basis of a painting, without using the whole image or trying to reproduce every detail. The photo was a seascape with a white lighthouse and its reflection. First, use masking fluid to protect the white areas (including surf).

Martin a dhisqwedhas fatel ûsya foto avel men leur lymnans, heb ûsya an ymach leun po saya daswil pub temmik. Tho an foto morwedh gen goleyty gwydn hag y dhastewydnyans. En kensa gwrewgh ûsya lin cüdha dhe witha an parthow gwydn (mordarth comprehendys).

Martin created  thunder clouds to show off the lighthouse well, first with a warm orange wash, then with three shades of grey, mixed from several blues and browns. These were painted wet-on-wet, so no hard edges. The clouds needed to be reflected in the water on the beach.

Martin a wras posterow dhe dhisqwedhes etta an goleyty, en kensa gen golgh rüdhvelyn tòbm, nena gen teyr ehen a loos, kemyskys dhort nebes ehen a las ha gorm. Payntys veu an re ma gleb-war-leb, na vo minow calish. Thera othom dhe’n cloudys a vos dastewydnys e’n dowr war an treth.

Dark colours were used for the blue sea and the parts of green land and the rocks in the distance, and a sandy colour for the dry beach. Finally, the dried masking fluid was carefully removed, to reveal the bright white areas.

Liwyow tewal o usys rag an mor glas ha’n parthow tir glas ha’n carygy e’n pelder, ha liw tewesek rag a treth segh. War an diwedh, an lin cüdha sehys a veu tednys dhe ves gen rach, rag disclosya an parthow cadn.
