There are many proverbs in my little book. I can't understand all of them! I could translate some sayings word for word, but they are still nonsense for me. (And I can't find a translation for some words.) Some mention names of women or men (unknown to me). Who were these people?

"All abroad, like Mary Miles."
"Oll a-les, pecar'a Mary Miles."
"All on one side, like Smoothy's wedding."
"Oll war üdn trenewen, pecar'a demedhyans Smoothy."
"Always head and chief, like Jimmy Eellis 'mong the cats."
Puppres pedn ha chîf, pecar'a Jimmy Eellis mesk an cathes."
"Always on the ran-dan, like cousin Ann Harry's gander."
Puppres ow whilas plesour pecar'a cülyek goodh cosin Ann Harry.
"Like An' Dinah Grey's old mare - when I'm up, I'm like a flap, and when I'm down, can't rise."
"Pecar'a casek goth Modrep Dinah Grey - poth oma emann, tho vy haval dhe flapp, ha poth oma dhe'n dor, na ellam sevel."
"Like Ludlow's dog - leaning against the wall to bark."
"Pecar'a kei Ludlow - pòsa warbedn an vos dhe hartha."
"Proud in his own conceit, like Sammy Lidgey's chick."
"Prowt et y goth y hònan, pecar'a ydhnik Sammy Lidgey."
