This year sees the fourth centenary of the birth of George Fox. He was an important man for the Quakers. The seventeenth century was a turbulent time, with a civil war, the beheading of the king, rule by a Puritan Parliament, the restoration of the monarchy and strict Anglican regime. Amongst that, Quakers were believing all humanity to be equal and to carry the light of Christ within them. They were persecuted for their refusals to worship in churches and be ruled by clergy. There were also men in that time wanting to save their Cornish language. All rebels!
