It was sad news when I heard of the death of my friend Hilary. I first met her in a Cornish language class in Truro. She was a very amusing woman. Later we met together in the Cornwall Music Festival in Truro, in groups for the language and dialect. She was an expert in the dialect. She wrote and performed a lot of poems in it. After her death her husband brought together a lot of poems and pictures and put them in a book. I was happy this morning to receive this book. I am eager to read it.

The Zodiac sign "Gemini" has gone (the Sun is between the Earth and Gevellyon now), but what are they, or what were they? Now they are stars in the night sky. These stars form a constellation. The two brightest stars are called "Castor" and "Pollux". Those two brothers in Greek and Roman legends were demi-gods and heroes. Their mother was Leda and Pollux's father was the god Zeus. Together they are also called the Dioscuri, the sons of Zeus.  Pollux shared his immortality with his half-brother because he could not bear to be without him. The Greeks believed they were protectors of horsemen and mariners. It says in the Bible that St Paul went to sea in a ship with the sign of the twin brothers on the bow. (That became a tradition.)

Twins, are they special? A cat can bear more than two kittens without difficulty. But it is rarer for bigger animals - cows, bisons, sheep - and women. Sometimes it is not good for the mother. I am happy. I have many blessings in my life. What bliss! I'm living among lots of trees full of birds. Noisy wood pigeons and quarrelsome rooks like the big trees, but smaller birds prefer the little leafy trees and the hedges. I can hear sparrows, blackbirds, robins and great-tits. There are jackdaws in our old chimney and thieving magpies from our neighbours' land. From time to time I see gulls and buzzards in the sky. Where are their nests?
