The King is lucky! He has two birthdays. His real birthday is in November but today was his “official” birthday. The birthday was celebrated with ceremony and ritual – with 300 horses and many soldiers – with music and marching bands and mounted bands. The Welsh Guards showed their flag (their “colour”). We saw many colours – red, white and blue for the United Kingdom flag. The Princess of Wales was dressed in emerald green , with a shamrock brooch, for the Irish Guards. I didn't see any colour for Cornwall. There are no Cornish Guards.

I'm tired again and I don't have anything to say, because I am in chaos, not organised, inefficient! I must be better tomorrow. I now have two grandchildren, two dogs, two cats and a guineapig (and a husband) to care for. Who will go home tomorrow?

I'm tired again! Or perhaps I am just lazy. A lazy bones! I can't sleep. The day is too long and too light. The nights are short. The birds are noisy in the early morning; a blackbird and robin sing sweetly, but the wood pigeons, jackdaws and magpies have heavy feet on the roof.

I'll never see Chiverton roundabout ever again! On Friday night it will be closed. A new road system will be in its place on Monday morning. Saturday and Sunday will be difficult. Our daughter would like to bring her two children from Truro to Perranzabuloe, but there will be no direct route. There will be many diversions. Our house is near the A3075. That will be busier and more noisy. The twins (our other grandchildren) have a birthday. How can we reach their party in Penryn on Saturday?

Can we learn from comparisons of texts? What can we learn? There's difficulty with old texts. What's the problem? We cannot see an original manuscript. We rely on a transcript. Where should one word have ended and the next word begun? Nowadays we could choose differently. There are many different spellings. Sometimes they help us with pronunciation. But some translations are difficult. Sometime the English itself is hard to understand! And hard to imagine.

Mount Edgcumbe House was the residence of the Earls of Mount Edgcumbe for four centuries. It was bought from the seventh Earl in the year 1971 by Cornwall Council and Plymouth City Council. There is a joint committee to run it as a tourism attraction. It has large gardens, with many events. Next weekend there will be a “Three Wishes” Fairy Festival. There will be a mermaid as well. It is the centenary of the “Flower Fairies” book. I won't have a children's class next week – the girls will be dressed as little people.

Tired again! This is not good enough. It's not interesting for my readers. I didn't go to the Royal Cornwall Show to look at animals, and I didn't go to West Pentire to see poppies. Fortunately I can find other peoples' pictures! Thank you Joanna Termets Burrell for going there.
